NJP is Washington’s publicly funded statewide legal aid program for low income persons and groups in Washington. Through its seventeen offices and CLEAR (Coordinated Legal Education Advice and Referral), Washington’s centralized intake, advice and referral hotline, NJP provides free legal information, advice, limited assistance, representation, community education, outreach and other community based advocacy.

NJP focuses its limited resources on high priority cases and the emergent legal needs of low income Washingtonians in housing, family safety, protection from predatory lending and other unfair or fraudulent practices, discrimination in housing, education, and employment, access to health care or subsistence benefits, or issues related to disabilities or other barriers that low income persons might experience in accessing services or the justice system itself. NJP seeks to ensure that its limited resources address issues in ways that protect the client community as a whole.
